the biggest argument from the gay community hasn't been about 'love'. You can love someone and not be married to them. It has been about tax rights, insurance rights, hospital visitation rights...etc et al...in all cultures throughout history marrige has been mainly for the conservation of assets and protection of children and the dissolution of those assets in there is death or an ending of that union. When they give long time room mates, people who don't like tradtional marrige [ Your Uncle and Miss J for example] the same rights as married people. I will be all for it. If it is equality the gay community is really looking for let's see them spearhead this. I will be all for it. Instead of a so called minority group trying to get a leg up on everyone else. I can think of a half a dozen ways off the top of my head to give gays the same rights that married couples have without them having to get married. The federal government is enacting some of them now. I do think it is disgusting that you can't visit someone you have lived with [gay or not] on their deathbed without someone elses permission.
