Can I just say that I LOVE SECOND HAND STORES!!!! I love going there and finding things I can fix up! It's SO much fun! I found some awesome things at the Provo DI yesterday. I really should post some pics of it all!
I saw this article (either online or in a mag) about finding an old metal medicine cabinet to store some gardening things inside. It was SO cute! I just kept think, "Man.. where am I going to find one of those??!" Oh, and guess what.. I FOUND ONE!!! At the DI! Yeah Whoo! I saw this girl holding it and looking at it.. Man, my heart was pounding.. I HAD to have it! I stood there, pretending to look at some baskets.. when she sat it down and walked away!!! I snatched it right up! It was $3 well spent. I love it. It's painted pink. Like a soft shabby pink.. Sigh. It's perfect.
THEN I found a vintage bedroom end table! I saw some on ebay and ksl, but people wanted like $50-$80 for them.. I found this one for ... $10! :) I'm so happy! My house is really coming together.
I have so many great buys, like my vintage basket! It's a pretty big basket ($2).. I can't decide what to do with it. Brandon and I were thinking of putting it by the front door for people to put their shoes in.. or putting fire wood in it on the deck by the fireplace (Shhh.. it's really just a gas fireplace). I also got this retro ottoman ($5). You would just pee yourself silly if you saw it. It's the cutest color of turquoise you've ever seen! It's going in my guest room.. :) I think I've put more thought and time into my guest rooms than I have my own room. Oh well.. my room will come together too.
I've bought a cute fake crystal lamp ($1). Silver serving tray ($1). The cutest owl clock in the history of the world ($1.50), vintage books in all shapes and colors ($.50 to $2 each), TONS of cute milk glass vases ($.50 to $1.50 each), frames ($.50 to $2 each), serving dishes ($1 each), and SO SO so much more!
So the next time you need to redecorate.. why not give secondhand items a try?!
